Genesis 1:27 says that every human being is made in God’s image, and Psalm 139:13-16 tells us that every person has infinite worth from the moment of conception. We believe that abortion is a tragic end to the life of a child God created for a purpose. We praise God for the recent decision made by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade.

We commit to extending the same grace we cling to each day to women who have made the difficult decision to have an abortion. We understand that we live in a broken world where terminating a pregnancy seems like the best option for women in vulnerable situations. We also understand that there are those within our church family who themselves have had an abortion. But regardless of our pasts, all of us have a seat at Jesus’ table because the forgiveness of Jesus is for everyone.

We commit to continuing our support of organizations and ministries that provide health care to women, and support to women and children in vulnerable situations. Our leadership has decided to exponentially increase our financial support for those ministries and organizations.

We commit to calling into action everyone who considers South Tampa Fellowship their home. May we be a church that holds just as tightly to the truths of Scripture as we do to our neighbors who disagree with those truths. May we be a church that gives financially to organizations that seek to love and care for vulnerable women and children. May we be a church that opens our homes to families in crisis. And may the love, care, and support we offer as God’s church be so abundant that the decision to have an abortion becomes entirely unthinkable.

We desire that these words would not be empty. If you or someone you know needs love, care, or support in light of their situation, please reach out!
