Opening Worship: “Our God” (Chris Tomlin)

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.” — Colossians 1:15-20

In the beginning God created all things. He founded the earth and the heavens. He existed before time. God made you in His image. He has the rightful authority, the freedom, the wisdom, and the power to bring about everything that He intends to happen. He is the Creator and the Glue that holds all things together in His Kingdom on earth and in heaven. He has created you for good works that He prepared in advance. He has anointed and appointed you for such a time as this. He desires greater intimacy with you.

Prayer Prompt: Begin your prayer time meditating on today’s Bible verses. Look for all God’s promises that are true about you and for you. Choose at least one biblical promise in His Word to stake your claim on right now. Surrender those areas in your life where you desire to have authority instead of Jesus, acknowledging that He is sovereign. Praise Him for the calling He has placed on your life and seek His guidance one step at a time so that you can walk in His ways.

Additional Scripture: Genesis 1, Psalm 148, Jeremiah 32:17, John 1:1-5, Ephesians 1:9-12, Hebrews 1:1-4, 8-12

Journal: Take a few moments to reflect on and note what God is showing you through His Word about Himself and how it applies to you.
