GOD’S WORD IS TRUTH, LIVING AND ACTIVE
Opening Worship: “Voice of Truth” (Casting Crowns) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cKm_mYVPQE
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” — John 17:17
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’” — John 8:31-32
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12
Reading the Bible is more than finding something that impacts your life; it’s about knowing God intimately and entering into conversation with Him. God’s Word is living because it reveals the God who is alive and desires to be known. God reveals Himself, wisdom, peace, and joy, and meets your needs through His Word. The Bible gives you access to truth, and through your increased knowledge of the truth, you come closer to God and to the life that He has planned for you to live.
Prayer Prompt: Pray these verses aloud. Reflect on the nature of God’s Word. Praise God that the Word became flesh and for the gift of the Scriptures that allows you to be sanctified in truth.
Additional Scripture: John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:5
Journal: Take a few moments to reflect on and note what God is showing you through His Word about Himself and how it applies to you.
