THE ONE TRUE GOD

“So, when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” — Hebrews 6:17-20

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” — John 14:6

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” — John 16:13

“And we know that Christ, God’s Son, has come to help us understand and find the true God. And now we are in God because we are in Jesus Christ his Son, who is the only true God; and he is eternal Life.” — 1 John 5:20 (Living Bible)

The statement God is truth speaks of God’s foundational stature. To say that God is truth is to acknowledge that truth itself proceeds from the nature of God.

Prayer Prompt: Pray these verses above aloud. Reflect on the nature of our Lord as it relates to the identity of truth. Praise God that truth proceeds from His nature and that you are invited to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

Additional Scripture: Psalm 19:9, Psalm 119:142, Psalm 119:160, John 4:24

Journal: Take a few moments to reflect on and note what God is showing you through His Word about Himself and how it applies to you.
